Katherine profile

Katherine Lamb, LPC, ATRP

I’m Katherine Lamb (she/her), a Licensed Professional Counselor, Provisionally Registered Art Therapist, Certified Theraplay Practitioner, and certified in the ARC trauma treatment framework. I work with children, adolescents, and adults to help navigate difficult life transitions, interpersonal challenges, parenting issues, and difficulties related to identity and self-esteem. I believe that healthy relational patterns and a sense of connection and security are foundational to mental health and wellbeing, which is why relational connection is at the heart of my work with people of all ages.

In my therapeutic approach, I focus on creating a space of safety, exploration, and growth. At the end of a great session, I want to feel that I’ve been present, attuned, and responsive to each client while maintaining my own center of gravity. My goal is to facilitate deeper self-understanding and awareness of relational patterns, as well as personal strengths and resources. In my work with parents and children, I feel fulfilled when I’ve created moments of shared joy and provided opportunities for growth and challenge, all within a foundation of unconditional acceptance and support.

My closest friends and confidants would describe me as warm, steady, gentle, creative, reflective, open-minded, conscientious, and values-driven. In therapy, I strive to bring centeredness and a sense of calm that creates a safe space for exploration, particularly when helping to strengthen parent-child relationships and create new patterns of connection, joy, and wholeness.

I understand change in therapy as a relational process—a corrective emotional experience—where self-exploration, understanding, and acceptance take place. I work to establish relational safety, which provides a platform for clients to explore desired changes and growth. I view therapy as a journey towards integration, flexibility, and connection—both internal and external—as well as the exploration of identity and relatedness, particularly in the context of relationships and broader social structures. I often draw from Dan Siegel’s image of the river of wellbeing and integration, where balance is found between chaos and rigidity, striving for harmony, resilience, and wellbeing in my work.

In my best moments as a therapist, I bring intentions of centeredness, calm, and a safe base for risky exploration. My hope is that clients will experience a greater sense of connection to themselves and others, drawing on these connections to navigate life’s challenges.

What sets me apart is my unique blend of playfulness and seriousness. We often laugh together in sessions while working through difficult topics. I also value the importance of collaboration, making connections between the various spheres of a child’s life. I consult with schools and other professionals to create a holistic approach. I incorporate art therapy in kinesthetic, sensory, and thematic processes, which promote emotional and physiological soothing, as well as build confidence, self-efficacy, and frustration tolerance. Through Theraplay, I help parents attune deeply to their children’s needs, fostering connection, regulation, and growth. I also provide pragmatic support to help parents develop practical, values-aligned approaches to parenting.

In my work, I combine creativity, compassion, and expertise to help individuals and families connect, grow, and heal.
